We found another well laid out and maintained state park at Chesterfield, Virginia. There were excellent mountain biking trails and also a water park (free use as part of camping fee). It was about 33C so we were glad for a swim. It was just south of Richmond, Virginia which we wanted to visit as it was the capital of the Confederate State. We took our bicycles into Richmond, visited the Confederate White House where Jefferson Davis and his family lived. Abraham Lincoln even visited a few days after the surrender of the Confederate army at Appomattox. There is a new museum of the Civil War in Richmond and an excellent bike way along the river.
On the third day we did a long ride on our trail bikes and got lost because of a rather poor map but luckily we me a local resident who put us right and enabled us to find our way back to the RV.
