Bull Run Regional Park and Manassas
We found another excellent park - Bull Run Regional Park Campground. It had plenty of safe roads for bicycling, was near Manassas National Battlefield Park and was close to Washington DC. Our first half day was spent at Manassas Park where we experienced an excellent guided Henry Hill Walking tour with a guide who described the action at the First Battle of Manassas (also known as the first Bull Run battle). There was hope that this would result of the Union (Yankees) beating the Confederates. Many people came out from Washington in their carriages to watch the action. Of course the result was the Union groups were routed and the war went on for another four years. We then spent two days in Washington.
